Woodland Strawberry Seeds

Woodland Strawberry (Fragaria vesca) presents early-summer white blossoms and edible, red-gem fruit. This lovely plant takes on a great red fall colour too!.  It spreads by runners readily, so a few plants will soon turn into hundreds over the seasons. Woodland Strawberries grow in a wide variety of sun and soil conditions: full sun to nearly full shade, meadows, fields, on moist ground, along the edge of forests, on rocky roadways and on hillsides. The fruit ripens in late spring or early summer. These berries are much smaller than commercial strawberries but they provide some of the most delicious of the wild fruits.

Growing Instructions: 

Wet and cold stratification required. Mix seeds with moist substrate (vermiculite, perlite or moss) and place in a plastic bag and refrigerate for 6-8 weeks. Sow seed at soil surface. Do not let seedling dry out while it is establishing.

Sow directly outdoors in late fall to overwinter.
